Terms and Conditions for Text Messaging Communication

Effective Date: 01/01/2025

  1. Introduction
Connections Counseling & Psychological Services (“CCPS,” “we,” “our,” “us”) offers text messaging as a limited form of communication with clients. By choosing to communicate with us via text message, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
  2. Purpose of Text Messaging
Text messaging may be used for:
  • Appointment reminders and scheduling changes
  • General inquiries about services
  • Administrative matters (e.g., billing questions, office closures)
  1. Limitations of Text Messaging
  • Text messaging is not a secure or confidential form of communication. Please do not share sensitive personal or clinical information via text.
  • We do not provide crisis support via text. If you are experiencing an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room.
  • Staff may not respond to text messages immediately. Response times vary based on office hours and availability.
  • Only staff are available via text. Therapists do not monitor or respond to text messages to and from the CCPS text line.
  1. Client Responsibilities
  • Clients should use text messaging only for non-urgent matters.
  • Clients are responsible for ensuring that CCPS has their correct phone number and for updating it as needed.
  • By opting into text messaging, clients acknowledge and accept the risks associated with electronic communication, including potential privacy concerns.
  1. Opting In and Out
  • Clients must provide written consent to receive text messages. By opting in, you acknowledge and accept the risks associated with text messaging communication.
  • Your mobile opt-in information will not be shared.
  • Clients may opt out at any time by notifying our office in writing or by replying “STOP” to any text message. Opting out will discontinue all text communications except those required for treatment, payment, or health care operations.
  1. Fees and Charges
  • CCPS does not charge for text messaging; however, standard messaging and data rates from your mobile carrier may apply. Clients are responsible for any charges incurred.
  1. Confidentiality and Privacy
  • While CCPS takes precautions to protect client privacy, text messaging is not HIPAA-compliant. Clients should use discretion when communicating via text.
  • CCPS is not responsible for unauthorized access to messages once they are delivered to a client’s device.
  • Your personal information will not be shared with third parties.
  1. Modification of Terms
CCPS reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. Updated terms will be posted on our website, and continued use of text messaging will constitute acceptance of any changes.
