Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)

You may find that your child’s problems with focus and concentration can interfere with their friendships, schoolwork, and day to day functioning at home. You may find that the teacher is expressing concerns about your child’s lack of progress, disorganization, or behavior problems. You want your child to be successful, but giving him multiple reminders every day just isn’t cutting it.

About 6% of children meet criteria for ADHD. Many other childhood behaviors, emotional disorders, or learning disorders can look very similar. We have found that many parents and teachers have difficulty accurately determining exactly what is going on when a child exhibits these problems. We can provide a thorough evaluation to help you identify how best to help your child. If we find that your child does meet criteria for ADHD, or if your child has already been diagnosed, we can provide brief therapy for your child to provide them with the tools they need to be successful at home and school. And don’t worry, parents, we can also give you tools to provide more effective support for them at home.

About 2-3 children per classroom will meet criteria for ADHD. Every child with ADHD is unique. Their problems may show up in their school performance, anger outbursts, emotional meltdowns, in planning ahead, being organized, and a number of other ways. We will help you get to the root of the problem so your child can get the right treatment!
