Dr. Laura Beth Cooper

Ph.D., LP

Dr. Laura Beth Cooper is a licensed psychologist, licensed professional counselor, and the owner of Connections Counseling & Psychological Services. She is dedicated to helping individuals, couples, families, children, adolescents, and adults make meaningful life changes, improve relationships, and enhance their overall well-being. With a warm, energetic, and client-focused approach, she tailors therapy to meet the unique needs of each individual.

Dr. Cooper has received over 70 hours of specialized training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), including DBT for adolescents and families and DBT Prolonged Exposure for trauma. She also integrates Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma-Focused CBT, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing into her practice. When working with children, she incorporates emotionally supportive approaches such as Child-Centered Play Therapy while also utilizing behaviorally centered strategies to support parents in addressing problematic childhood behaviors. For clients who seek it, Dr. Cooper provides a faith-based perspective, integrating spirituality into therapy in a meaningful way.

Dr. Cooper’s research on religious coping and scrupulosity led to two poster presentations at the Texas Psychological Association (TPA) Annual Conventions (2007, 2008) and two academic journal publications (2009, 2011). She remains actively involved in the psychological community and currently serves as the Chair for the Public Education Committee within the Texas Psychological Association.
